Hackathon Virtual Reality in Rehabilitation Medicine

The Sint Maartenskliniek in Ubbergen, the Netherlands, joins Dutch Hacking Health fort he first time this year. Our participation has one very special goal: to find new solutions for virtual reality in the rehabilitation process for our patients.

Together with our international partners, we started the VR4REHAB project. This project is supported by Interreg for 3 years. Go to their website for more information.

Does your idea belong to one of the winners? Then you continue to the game jam, where your idea is worked out into a prototype. The best ideas receive support from the VR4REHAB project. Your solution will be tested in the affiliated clinics in the Netherlands, Germany and England.

 

What is our plan?

Our first hackaton will take place on 20, 21 and 22 April. Eventually, there will be five hackatons in five countries: Belgium, United Kingdom, Germany, France (and the Netherlands). After these five events, the best (applicable) ideas will go to the next round: the Gamejams. There, the ideas are refined into a functioning VR solution. The complete process will look like this:

Together, we are working to find solution for 5 main themes in Rehabilitation medicine:

  1. Pain management
  2. Engagement and immersion to promote treatment adherence
  3. Behavioural therapy after Traumatic Brain Injury
  4. Lower limbs and mobility
  5. Training of upper limb movements
